Financial Dispute Mediation Committee to Convene Monthly
The financial supervisory authorities will conduct planned and thematic inspections and reviews related to consumer protection, including high-risk financial investment products. The Financial Dispute Mediation Committee, which previously convened only when necessary, will be regularized to strengthen its consumer remedy function.

View original imageThe Financial Supervisory Service announced this direction for this year's supervisory inspections at the "2026 Consumer Protection Division Financial Supervision Work Briefing" held at the Financial Supervisory Service headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, on March 5. The briefing was attended by officials from various financial associations and financial companies.
Kim Wookbae, Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, stated, "Manufacturers and sellers of financial products will establish work processes to identify, assess, and verify key risks by product type, thereby clarifying their responsibilities." He added, "We will shift to a paradigm of preventive supervision across the entire life cycle of financial products, including their design, manufacturing, sales, and post-sale management."
The Financial Supervisory Service also announced plans to conduct planned and thematic inspections and reviews related to consumer protection, including high-risk financial investment products. Kim further stated, "We will strengthen internal controls by reforming the consumer protection evaluation system and improving the operation of mystery shopping."
Additionally, the Financial Dispute Mediation Committee, which used to be held only as needed, will now be regularized. The Financial Supervisory Service plans to hold the committee on a monthly basis, establish subcommittees by area of expertise, and thereby enhance its function and professionalism to strengthen the consumer rights remedy function.
Deputy Governor Kim emphasized, "We will continue to enhance public trust by innovating supervisory and inspection work, improving accountability structures, and providing support to enhance the rights and interests of financially vulnerable groups."
