Com2us Holdings Narrows Last Year's Losses... "To Launch More Than Eight New Titles This Year"
Revenue of 97.1 Billion Won, Operating Loss of 8.7 Billion Won
Soft Launch of "Star Sailor" and Others in Q1
Com2us Holdings announced on the 12th that its consolidated revenue for last year was 97.1 billion won, down 35.0% from a year earlier. However, through management efficiency improvements, its operating loss shrank by 82.8% over the same period to 8.7 billion won.
In the fourth quarter of last year, revenue came to 25.8 billion won and operating profit to 600 million won, turning to the black from a loss in the same period a year earlier. Com2us Holdings said that its flagship title, "Soul Strike," showed a clear uptick in key metrics thanks to a collaboration with the girl band QWER. Improvements in equity-method investment gains and management efficiency also drove better results.
Com2us Holdings plans to improve its performance this year by launching more than eight new games across various genres and to accelerate the global expansion of its subsidiary Com2us Platform.
In the game business segment, the company will build on the performance of "Soul Strike," which has established itself as a steady seller, and strengthen its global publishing business with a diverse lineup of new titles that focus on the core fun of gameplay. The mobile puzzle game "Powpop Match" has been available in the United States and Indonesia since the 10th, raising expectations.
In addition, the collectible role-playing game (RPG) "Star Sailor," which has caught users' attention with subculture (anime-style) characters, and the hybrid puzzle game "Color Sweeper," which combines Minesweeper elements, will both have a soft launch in the first quarter of this year.
In the second half of the year, the company will target the global market with "Project V" (working title), the official sequel to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) "Talion," and "ARES Global," an action-focused MMORPG set in a sci-fi universe. It is also preparing to launch the side-scrolling action-adventure game "Lone Chef" for PC and console, the mobile strategy defense game "Project D" (working title), and the run-racing training game "Udangtang Runners."
The subsidiary Com2us Platform has increased external revenue through a cloud and third-party-linked business model built on its game backend service "Hive." This year, it aims to expand Hive into a business-to-business-to-business (B2B2B) platform that connects game companies and publishers around the world.
