Suncheon City Establishes Support Measures for Grave Visits at Memorial Park and Public Cemetery During Lunar New Year Holiday
Advance Visits and Online Memorials
Suncheon City announced that it has designated the period from February 14 to 18 as the Lunar New Year grave-visiting countermeasure period and will provide detailed services so that visitors to Suncheon Municipal Memorial Park and the public cemetery can travel conveniently and pay their respects in comfort.
For those who find it difficult to visit in person during this Lunar New Year holiday, the city will provide an online memorial and grave-visiting service through the e-Haneul Funeral Information System website, which can be used after signing up for membership.
To improve transportation convenience for visitors to the public cemetery, the city plans to increase the number of city bus operations from the current 8 to 10 runs per day for two days starting on Lunar New Year's Day.
In addition, the section from Namgyo Five-way Intersection to the public cemetery to Suncheon Girls' High School, where traffic congestion is severe every year due to grave visitors, will be operated as a one-way road on Lunar New Year's Day, February 17. The city is asking residents in this area to refrain from parking on both sides of the road.
On Lunar New Year's Day, February 17, the visiting hours for the columbarium at Suncheon Municipal Memorial Park will be extended by two hours compared to usual, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and cremation and natural burial services will operate as normal, limited to Suncheon citizens.

An official from the city said, "As congestion is expected on Lunar New Year's Day due to the concentration of visitors, we ask you to visit in advance or actively use the online memorial service. When visiting in person, please join the campaign prohibiting the bringing in of artificial flowers and actively participate in creating a grave-visiting culture that does not generate waste."
