Conducted locally in the United States for about one week starting on January 26, this program was designed to deepen understanding of the global research environment and to foster talent with creative and innovative research capabilities, based on research-oriented presentations and international academic exchanges in the field of medical artificial intelligence. A total of about 20 participants attended, including Hallym University undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students studying medical artificial intelligence.

As a main part of the schedule, on January 27 the group visited Harvard Medical School and carried out an academic exploration program focused on the research environment and research infrastructure of leading laboratories at the forefront of global research. In addition, research seminars and special lectures involving researchers affiliated with Harvard University were held, creating a venue for academic exchange on the latest research trends. From January 28 to 29, an international joint research symposium was held at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where participating students presented their research, and academic discussions and research consultations with local faculty members took place.

This program went beyond a simple overseas training visit. It holds educational and academic significance in that participating students set their research topics in the field of medical AI through a pre-season course and prepared those topics for about one month, thereby operating the program as a truly research-centered project.

In particular, by holding an international research symposium at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, participating students presented their respective research topics and strengthened their research capabilities by receiving professional research feedback from local faculty members and researchers. Furthermore, through exchange programs with students at local universities, they expanded their research and academic networks and gained a deeper understanding of the global research environment.

Eunmin Jung, a Hallym University student (first-year in the Department of Medicine at the College of Medicine) who took part in the program, said, "As an undergraduate, the very process of setting a research topic, preparing a research presentation, giving the presentation directly at a local university, and receiving academic advice and evaluation in a mentoring setting was an extremely valuable experience," adding, "By experiencing a world-class research environment firsthand, I was able to broaden my perspective as a researcher and take the opportunity to think more concretely about my career path and research direction."

Lee Jaejoon, Head of the Project Group for Training Convergence Talent Specialized in Medical Artificial Intelligence and Director of Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital, said, "The program has advanced and deepened into a 'research-centered project-type' educational program in which students studying medical AI gain experience in everything from research planning and execution to presentation, and directly participate in academic exchanges. In this respect, it has presented a new direction for future models of training talent in the medical AI field," emphasizing, "We will continue to expand educational and research programs that can strengthen students' global research competitiveness."

Meanwhile, Hallym University's Project Group for Training Convergence Talent Specialized in Medical Artificial Intelligence is operating practice-oriented educational programs with the goal of nurturing next-generation medical AI professionals based on the convergence of medicine and AI technology, supported by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The project group plans to take the lead in building an education and research ecosystem in the AI healthcare field through close cooperation among universities, medical institutions, and industry.
