Prime Minister Kim Orders Quarantine Measures After African Swine Fever Outbreak in Naju
"Thoroughly investigate the cause of the outbreak through an epidemiological investigation"

View original imageOn the 9th, Prime Minister Kim Minseok issued an emergency order to ensure that quarantine measures are implemented without fail in connection with an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) at a pig farm in Naju, Jeollanam-do.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, after receiving a report on the ASF outbreak that day, Prime Minister Kim instructed the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to "steadily carry out quarantine measures in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), including access control to the affected farm and nearby facilities, culling, temporary movement bans, and intensive disinfection," and to "thoroughly investigate the cause of the outbreak through an epidemiological investigation."
He also said, "The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment must make every effort to inspect fences around the affected farm area and to search for and capture carcasses of wild boars," and stressed that "relevant ministries, local governments, and related agencies must actively cooperate in implementing quarantine measures such as prompt culling, detailed testing, and intensive disinfection."
To pig farmers, he urged strict compliance with administrative orders such as banning gatherings and events among workers at pig farms and prohibiting the bringing in of items that may be contaminated, and to rigorously follow basic quarantine guidelines.

Prime Minister Kim requested, "As the Lunar New Year holiday approaches, movements of people and vehicles visiting their hometowns are expected to increase, so please thoroughly implement preventive quarantine measures such as disinfection of farms and high-risk areas and controlling the entry of people and vehicles."
