Smoke from Suspected Portable Battery on Seoul Subway Line 2 at Sillim Station... All Passengers Evacuated

At approximately 6:25 p.m. on May 18, smoke was detected from a passenger's belongings inside a train headed toward Gangnam Station on the outer circle of Seoul Subway Line 2 at Sillim Station, temporarily halting train operations.
As a result of this incident, all passengers on the affected train disembarked, and operation of the upbound trains on Subway Line 2 was suspended for about 10 minutes. The item that produced the smoke is presumed to be a portable battery carried by a passenger. No injuries have been reported and there was no fire.
