HwaHyun Leads in Revenue Growth

Last year, mid-sized law firms such as HwaHyun, Peter & Kim, LKB Pyeongsan, and Roel Law Firm showed growth that rivaled that of major law firms. Peter & Kim and Law Firm Robex posted revenue per lawyer that exceeded that of large firms, demonstrating strong profitability and competitiveness.

According to the legal community on February 4, the firms with the steepest revenue growth were HwaHyun and Peter & Kim. HwaHyun generated revenue of 16.67 billion won, up 31.3% from 12.7 billion won a year earlier. Revenue at Peter & Kim, an international arbitration-focused law firm, also increased by 31%. Its revenue rose from 19.36 billion won in 2024 to 25.36 billion won last year. The firm boosted its performance by successfully handling large-scale cases such as the Lone Star investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) and arbitration related to the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

LKB Pyeongsan’s revenue increased by more than 10 billion won in just one year. LKB Pyeongsan achieved revenue growth of 21.8%, reaching 57.66 billion won. Its revenue in 2024 was 47.34 billion won. LKB Pyeongsan was created in July last year through a merger between LKB & Partners and Law Firm Pyeongsan. Immediately after the merger, the number of Korean lawyers rose from 126 to 161 as of December 31 last year.

Roel Law Firm surpassed 60 billion won in revenue. Its revenue climbed from 49 billion won in 2024 to 62.1 billion won last year, marking a growth rate of 26.7%. Revenue at Lin increased from 38 billion won to 41 billion won, up 7.89%. Last year, Lin converted into a limited liability law firm and completed a merger with Law Firm Daeji.

Most mid-sized law firms generated more than 400 million won in revenue per lawyer. Among mid-sized firms, Peter & Kim recorded the highest revenue per lawyer. Peter & Kim has 13 Korean lawyers, and their revenue per lawyer was about 1.951 billion won. Due to the nature of international arbitration work, many foreign lawyers are also active at Peter & Kim; even when including these 10 foreign lawyers, the firm’s revenue per lawyer still exceeds 1.1 billion won. The firm with the next highest revenue per lawyer was Robex (636 million won). Revenue per lawyer at Roel and HwaHyun was 470 million won and 463 million won, respectively.
