Gyeonggi Province Uncovers Four Cases of Poor Hygiene at Cake Manufacturers
Gyeonggi Province conducted an emergency inspection of cake manufacturers ahead of the year-end and New Year holidays, resulting in administrative action against four businesses.
From December 4 to December 11, the province carried out hygiene inspections at 835 food manufacturing, processing, and service establishments within the region. On December 26, it announced that four violations had been detected, including businesses in Hwaseong and Gunpo that failed to conduct employee health checkups, and a restaurant in Ansan with poor kitchen hygiene. Penalties such as business suspensions and fines were imposed.
This inspection focused on several areas: hygienic management of manufacturing facilities, equipment, and utensils, compliance with labeling standards such as manufacturing dates and extended consumption periods, and whether expired or unlabeled raw materials were being used or stored.
