Namyangju City Urges Residents to Pay the Second Installment of This Year's Automobile Tax
28 Billion KRW Imposed and Notified
18,376 Cases in Total
Namyangju City in North Jeolla Province announced on December 22 that, as of December 1, it has imposed and notified the second installment of this year's automobile tax, totaling 2.8 billion KRW, on vehicle owners.
The number of cases imposed is 18,376. The tax is levied on owners of vehicles (automobiles, motorcycles, and mechanical equipment) registered in Namyangju City for the period of ownership from July 1 to December 31, and the payment deadline is December 31.
The automobile tax is imposed twice a year, in June and December, for the first and second half of the year, respectively. For vehicles with an annual tax amount of 100,000 KRW or less, the entire amount is imposed in the first half (June).
However, vehicles for which the annual tax was prepaid in January, March, June, or September are excluded from this regular installment.
To make it more convenient for citizens to pay local taxes, the city has produced easy-to-read local tax notices and is promoting various taxpayer convenience measures such as virtual accounts, local tax revenue accounts, internet payment via Wetax, and ARS payment.
Additionally, if automatic transfer is set up, a deduction of 500 KRW per transaction is provided, and if electronic notification is applied for-receiving the notice via email or a simple payment app-an additional deduction of 1,000 KRW can be received.
