"Goose Down Labeled, Duck Down Inside"...Korea Consumer Agency Uncovers Fake Goose Down Padded Jackets
Korea Consumer Agency Investigates 24 Goose Down Padded Jackets
Five Products Fail to Meet Goose Down Quality Standards
Two Products Mismatched Between Online Information and Actual Labeling
Recently, as consumer complaints about goose down padding products have been increasing-especially regarding the incorrect labeling of padding fill ratios-it has been found that some products labeled as goose (goose) down are actually filled with duck down.
On December 9, the Korea Consumer Agency tested and evaluated 24 types of goose down padding sold by four fashion platforms, examining the proportion of goose feathers, blend ratios (down-to-feather ratio), and safety. The results showed that five products did not meet the quality standards for goose feather content required for goose down products. Additionally, two products were labeled as containing goose feathers in their online sales information, but the actual product labels indicated duck feathers.
The five products had goose feather ratios ranging from 6.6% to 57.1%, which is below the quality standard. Goose down products are required to contain at least 80% goose feathers in their filling. The brands in question are Remi (GOOSE DOWN SHORT JUMPER), Labellefit (Rubelle Goose Down Short Padded Belted Padding), Hippley (Twinkle Fox Fur Belt Long Padding), Clicknfunny (Woz Lightweight Padding Jumper), and Fromyuz (Goose Down Saga Fox Fur Short Padding).
Two products were sold online as goose down products, but the actual product labels indicated duck down. These two products are Belia (007 Series Premium Goose Down Knit Padding) and Zenaehre (Real Fox Goose Down Feather Lightweight Short Padding), both of which were found to contain only 1.9% to 4.7% goose feathers and are in fact duck down products.
The seven companies involved have responded that they have either already corrected the product information, halted sales, or are planning to offer exchanges and refunds to consumers.
For two products-Remi (GOOSE DOWN SHORT JUMPER) and Fromyuz (Goose Down Saga Fox Fur Short Padding)-the proportion of down in the blend ratio (down-to-feather) was lower than indicated, making them non-compliant with labeling standards. For three products-Labellefit (Rubelle Goose Down Short Padded Belted Padding), Zenaehre (Real Fox Goose Down Feather Lightweight Short Padding), and Hippley (Twinkle Fox Fur Belt Long Padding)-there was no composition labeling, indicating a need for improvement in labeling.
All products met the standards for fill power, hygiene, and safety.

Twelve products had non-compliant labeling, such as listing information only in Chinese or English without Korean, omitting required quality information such as blend ratio, manufacturer’s address, or phone number, or providing information that did not match the actual product. All of the companies involved responded that they plan to halt sales or correct the labeling information.
