FSS Revises Financial Consumer Service Charter to Actively Strengthen Consumer Protection
FSS Pre-Announces Revision of Financial Consumer Service Charter
The Financial Supervisory Service announced on December 9 that it will pre-announce a revision to the 'Financial Consumer Service Charter' in order to spread a culture of financial consumer protection throughout the organization that meets public expectations.
The revised version prioritizes the enhancement of financial consumer rights and consumer protection, emphasizing the need to think and act from the consumer's perspective and to prevent consumer harm in advance.
It stipulates the prompt provision of information required by financial consumers and explicitly guarantees the confidentiality of personal information obtained in the course of handling complaints and dispute resolution work. The agency also established 'Financial Consumer Service Implementation Standards' to achieve these objectives.
In addition, new principles for financial consumer service work have been introduced, along with four main principles for consumer protection and detailed guidelines for their implementation. The revision also includes new guidelines to protect the consumer's right to know-such as guidance on the information disclosure system-and to ensure the confidentiality of personal information related to complaints and dispute resolution work.
This revision will be pre-announced from today until December 29, after which it will be finalized.
