Gongju City Newsletter "Heungmijinjin Gongju" Wins Grand Prize for Planning
The Only Winner Among Local Governments in the Central Region
Recognized for Planning That Strengthened Local Storytelling
The city newsletter of Gongju, Chungnam, titled "Heungmijinjin Gongju," was officially recognized for its content and planning capabilities by winning the Grand Prize for Planning in the Public Print Newsletter category at the 2025 Korea Communication Awards.
On December 4, the city of Gongju announced that "Heungmijinjin Gongju" had been selected as the Grand Prize winner for Planning in the Public Print Newsletter category at the 2025 Korea Communication Awards ceremony, which was held at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall on December 3. This award is the only one in the central region among all local governments nationwide.
The Korea Communication Awards, now in its 36th year, is a leading domestic communication awards ceremony that evaluates 25 categories, including print newsletters, electronic newsletters, and broadcast content produced by companies, public enterprises, government agencies, and local governments.
"Heungmijinjin Gongju" received high marks for its wide-ranging, field-based story content, covering major city news, local festivals, 40-year-old long-standing shops, village leaders, and master artisans preserving Gongju's traditional culture.
It was also praised for its vibrant composition and editing that resonates with various generations.
This newsletter is published in 41,000 copies every month, and to serve the visually impaired, those with low vision, and illiterate individuals, it is also produced and distributed with VoiceEye (audio conversion barcodes) and Braille editions.
The city places the newsletter in about 130 locations, including the city hall, administrative welfare center civil service offices in towns and villages, book cafes, major tourist attractions, restaurants, and cafes.
