Joint Efforts by Busan Global City Foundation to Improve Settlement Conditions
On the afternoon of December 1, Busan Metropolitan City signed a business agreement with BNK Busan Bank and the Busan Global City Foundation in the International Protocol Room at Busan City Hall to improve the living conditions of international students.
This agreement was established to substantially enhance the settlement environment for international students residing in Busan by strengthening access to financial services, providing scholarships, and expanding community programs.
The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan, Bang Seongbin, President of Busan Bank, and Jeon Yongwoo, CEO of the Busan Global City Foundation.
The agreement includes: ▲ operation of 16 dedicated Busan Bank branches for international students and the ability to open an account quickly with just a passport upon arrival; ▲ selection of outstanding international students as scholarship recipients and operation of support programs by the Busan Global City Foundation; ▲ administrative support from Busan City through cooperation networks with local universities and foreigner support centers, among other relevant organizations.
Busan Bank will select a student support team to provide job experience opportunities and will expand financial and fraud prevention education to help students adapt during their initial period. The Global City Foundation will select scholarship recipients and run community programs using endowment funds to support international students’ local engagement. The city plans to strengthen cooperation with related organizations to ensure the stable implementation of these initiatives.

Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs, emphasized, "This agreement will serve as a starting point to reduce the inconveniences international students face in daily life and to strengthen their settlement foundation. As the advancement of international student support systems is essential for Busan to grow as a global education hub, we will create an urban environment where learning, living, and growth are all possible."
