Park Beom-gye Faces 4 Million Won Fine, Park Ju-min 3 Million Won Sought in 'Fast-Track Clash' Case
Kim Byungwook: 15 Million Won, Lee Jongkul: 7 Million Won, Pyo Changwon: 5 Million Won
The prosecution has sought fines for all former and current members of the Democratic Party of Korea and related personnel who were brought to trial over the 'National Assembly Fast-Track Clash' incident.
On November 28, during the final hearing at the 12th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court (Presiding Judge Kim Jeong-gon), the prosecution requested the court to impose a fine of 4 million won on Assemblyman Park Beom-gye and a fine of 3 million won on Assemblyman Park Ju-min, both indicted for joint assault in violation of the Act on the Punishment of Violent Acts.
The prosecution also sought a fine of 15 million won for Kim Byung-wook, Secretary to the President for Political Affairs, 7 million won for former Assemblyman Lee Jong-kul, and 5 million won for former Assemblyman Pyo Chang-won. For aides and party officials indicted on the same charges, fines ranging from 2 million to 12 million won were requested.
The prosecution stated, "Please determine the sentences comprehensively, taking into account the extent of the damage caused by the incident, the degree of use of force, and the outcomes and progress of related cases."
They were indicted without detention in January 2020 on charges of assaulting or injuring members of the Liberty Korea Party in the process of responding to the party's obstruction of bill submissions and meetings during the 2019 National Assembly Fast-Track Clash.
