Plans to Build a General Hospital with Over 700 Beds
The consortium of Korea University Medical Center has been selected as the preferred negotiator for the general hospital in Dongtan 2 New Town, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
Hwaseong City announced on November 22 that Korea University Medical Center (Korea Central Academy) consortium was chosen as the preferred negotiator for the package-type development project, which includes a large-scale general hospital in Dongtan 2 New Town, being promoted by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH).

View original imageLH evaluated the business proposals submitted by the Korea University Medical Center consortium and the Soonchunhyang University Medical Center consortium, both of which participated in the private sector bidding for this project, and made this decision. The Korea University Medical Center consortium includes Woomee Construction, BS Hanyang Co., Mirae Asset Securities, and Hana Bank.
The consortium plans to utilize land designated for medical facilities and urban support facilities to build a general hospital with more than 700 beds. In addition, they plan to create a comprehensive care complex for all life stages, centering around a central plaza with a rehabilitation hospital for recovery, senior welfare housing, and officetels.
For the mixed-use residential and commercial site, the consortium submitted a plan to create a community space with neighborhoods and parks by developing a village-type landmark complex and street-type commercial facilities.
The city and LH plan to proceed with the project in stages after establishing a special purpose company (SPC) through the application for medical institution establishment approval and consultation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
This project involves selling four blocks totaling 190,000 square meters in Dongtan 2 District, including land for medical facilities and mixed-use residential and commercial purposes, as a package, and promoting a complex development that combines medical facilities, urban support facilities, and mixed-use functions.
