Hwasun Microbial Validation Support Center Conducts 'Vaccine Quality Management Training'
For Trainees... Organized by the International Vaccine Institute
The Microbial Validation Support Center in Hwasun, Jeollanam-do conducted on-site training for three days from November 5 to 7, 2025, targeting trainees of the "2025 Vaccine (Biopharmaceutical) Quality Management Basic Training (GxP Course)."

This training is part of the Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing (GTH-B) program, which the World Health Organization (WHO) is promoting to strengthen infectious disease response capabilities. Through this year’s program, the center once again demonstrated its internationally recognized practical training environment in vaccine production processes and quality management.
The curriculum focused on current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) standards for pharmaceuticals, combining theoretical lectures with hands-on training to enhance understanding. Key programs included a tour of cGMP manufacturing facilities, practical training in manufacturing processes, QC (Quality Control) physicochemical testing, and virtual reality (VR) experiences in cell culture and purification. These activities allowed trainees to directly experience the entire biopharmaceutical production process.
In particular, this training emphasized hands-on practice in microbiological and physicochemical testing. Trainees performed monitoring exercises to assess the cleanliness and water quality of pharmaceutical manufacturing environments, thereby carrying out procedures essential for maintaining vaccine quality.
Additionally, participants enhanced their understanding of the production process by sequentially performing all stages, from starting at the cell bank, operating fermenters, calibrating sensors, to collecting culture samples.
Song Jin-young, Team Leader of External Cooperation at the Microbial Validation Support Center, stated, "This training has served as an opportunity to broaden the scope of global cooperation in the biopharmaceutical production and quality management sectors," adding, "We will continue to contribute to nurturing global talent for the vaccine industry through ongoing collaboration with international organizations and related institutions."

Meanwhile, in July, the center opened the largest training facility in the Honam region and began full-scale operations. The training facility is equipped with devices for hands-on practice in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and testing processes, and demand for training from students and industry professionals continues to rise. Going forward, the center aims to grow as a key hub for nurturing core talent in the local bioindustry.
