The Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on November 14 that it had completed the administrative audit of the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, its 12 direct agencies, and 22 education support offices.
This administrative audit was conducted from November 3 to November 14. The audit began with the main office on November 3, followed by the direct agencies and affiliated institutions on November 5, and then a four-day inspection of the 22 education support offices starting on November 6. On the final day, November 14, a comprehensive audit of the main office concluded the schedule.

View original imageAssemblyman Choi Jonghoon pointed out the need for a systematic evaluation of the outcomes of autonomous school supervision and for strengthening the management of activity data. He especially emphasized the necessity of establishing a foundation for enhancing teacher competencies and adopting a systematic approach to improving student achievement. He also called for addressing the shortage of teachers in small and medium-sized middle schools, monitoring concurrent teaching assignments, and securing dedicated teachers.
Assemblyman Seo Daewon mentioned the need to secure stable educational resources for Jeonnam through public projects from the Ministry of Education and proposed establishing a smart school facility opening model based on AI and IoT. He also urged the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education and its training institute to strengthen their roles in instilling the spirit of Yi Sun-sin in students.
Assemblywoman Park Yeonsuk called for improving accessibility to training for disabled teachers and requested a comprehensive review of the assessment system for lower elementary grades. She also urged the supplementation of educational programs that can stimulate students' interest and motivation, as well as the reinforcement of dedicated organizations and personnel to prevent school safety accidents.
Assemblyman Kim Jaecheol strongly demanded measures to eradicate staff misconduct and drunk driving, and emphasized compliance with the mandatory purchase of products made by people with severe disabilities. He also strongly called for addressing chronic absenteeism, inspecting school safety conditions, and implementing measures to prevent traffic accidents and external intrusions.
Assemblyman Lee Jaetae proposed establishing dedicated reporting channels and securing professional interpreters and counselors to strengthen the response system for multicultural students and school violence. Additionally, he called for converting rural study abroad programs into a rotational model within the province, managing learning gaps for unregistered international students, and preparing support manuals for returning students.
Assemblyman Jeong Cheol called for strengthening character, reading, and humanities education in preparation for the AI era, and raised the need to establish a sustainable regional education model. He also emphasized that securing professional personnel and budget support is essential for the successful implementation of the open recruitment system for education superintendents.
Assemblyman Lim Youngseok requested that local companies be given priority in private contracts to contribute to the local economy and pointed out the need to clarify the purpose and achievements of Jeonnam Future International High School. He also urged the development of alternatives such as base dormitories to reduce disparities among small and medium-sized middle schools and called for transforming special education zones to be student-centered.
Assemblyman Kim Jinnam urged that survival swimming education be shifted to focus on practical survival skills and called for the rationalization of planning and budgeting for overseas study programs for students. He also emphasized the need to strengthen the effectiveness of systems aimed at reducing educational disparities and improving college entrance exam outcomes for students in island regions.
Assemblyman Park Wonjong argued for strengthening the effectiveness of various committees established to protect teachers' rights and called for the establishment of a system for inspecting and managing school equipment. He also requested the creation of a synergy system linking digital textbooks, AI education, and other digital education projects.
Chairperson Kim Jeonghee requested that measures be taken to properly apply the 2030 Education Guidebook in schools and actively review the establishment of future classrooms and online studio learning cafes in line with student population trends. She also emphasized that budget execution must be transparent and precise so that both students and teachers can directly feel its impact.
Chairperson Kim Jeonghee stated, "Through this administrative audit, we have reviewed the current state of education in Jeonnam and discussed a shift in direction for future education. We will develop practical policy alternatives that reflect voices from the field and realize student-centered education in Jeonnam."
