Enhanced Freshness with MAP Packaging
BGF Retail announced on November 10 that its convenience store chain CU will launch four types of small-quantity sashimi, packaged for single households to enjoy without burden.
Starting November 12, CU stores will offer three varieties-Aged Salmon Sashimi, Aged Flatfish Sashimi, and Chewy Gwamegi-each for 13,900 won (70g), and Aged Skate Sashimi for 9,900 won (100g), all in single-serving portions.
Since sashimi is a product where freshness management is crucial, these items are produced and shipped on the same day by manufacturers equipped with internationally certified quality systems. The products also feature Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), which further enhances freshness.
The Aged Salmon Sashimi and Flatfish Sashimi use the 'Shiozume' aging method with salt to enhance their chewy texture and umami flavor. The Aged Skate Sashimi is designed to be mild and clean-tasting, with no strong odor, making it approachable even for first-time consumers. Depending on preference, it can be aged for up to 30 days.
The Gwamegi is produced using an ocean-caught fish, processed in a HACCP-certified specialized facility in Pohang, its place of origin, and dried with a low-temperature cold air method, ensuring hygienic and consistent quality.
Each product comes with sauces that pair well with sashimi, such as horseradish, soy sauce, wasabi, and sweet chili pepper paste. The packaging also includes a separate compartment inside the container for the sauces, adding convenience.
