Major Labor Unions to Hold Large-Scale Rallies in Downtown Seoul Today...Traffic Congestion Expected
100,000 Expected to Gather in Dongdaemun and Yeouido Areas
On November 8, large-scale rallies organized by the two major labor unions and other groups are expected to take place in various locations throughout downtown Seoul, likely causing traffic congestion.
The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) will hold the "National Workers' Rally" from 3:00 p.m. along Jangchungdan-ro (from the Dongdaemun Design Plaza intersection to Heunginjimun intersection). The Federation of Korean Trade Unions (FKTU) will hold its rally from 2:00 p.m. in the Yeouidaero area (from the southern end of Mapo Bridge to Seoul Bridge).

After the rally, the KCTU plans to march toward the Sejong Hotel and the Seoul Regional Employment and Labor Office.
The Liberty Unification Party, led by Pastor Jeon Kwanghoon of Sarang Jeil Church, will hold a rally from 1:00 p.m. between the Donghwa Duty Free Shop in Gwanghwamun and the Seoul Metropolitan Council. The reported number of participants is 50,000.
The Taego Order of Korean Buddhism will hold a Buddhist service with 6,000 participants from 1:00 p.m. in the northern part of Gwanghwamun Square and the Sejong-daero area.
The police will operate reversible lanes near Sejong-daero, Jangchungdan-ro, and Yeouidaero. In the Euljiro area, vehicle access will be restricted from the DDP intersection toward the Euljiro Entrance intersection, and vehicles will be detoured toward Toegye-ro. Around the rally and march routes, approximately 330 traffic police officers will be deployed.
A police official advised, "As traffic congestion is expected on major roads in the downtown area, please use the subway if possible. If you must drive, check traffic information in advance."
