View original imageThe county was awarded the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Institutional Award at the "50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Civil Defense Corps" event, held at the Peace Nuri Hall of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Northern Office on the 29th. The award recognized Yeoncheon County's systematic management of all aspects of civil defense, including the organization and management of civil defense members, education and training, and the management of facilities and equipment, which contributed to ensuring the safety of residents during disasters and emergencies and establishing a thorough emergency preparedness posture.
Additionally, Yeoncheon County placed second overall among the 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province during the Ulji Exercise held in August, and is expected to receive the Gyeonggi Provincial Governor's Institutional Award at the end of this year.
Since the Yeoncheon artillery provocation incident in 2015, Yeoncheon County has received a total of 10 institutional awards in various fields, including integrated defense, warning systems, and civil defense. In particular, since Governor Kim Deokhyeon took office during the 8th popularly elected term, the county has received four institutional awards from the Minister, the Provincial Governor, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, further strengthening its emergency preparedness capabilities as a leading county in the border region.
