'Daejeon Social Economy Innovation Town' Opens to Support Social Economy Enterprises
Support from Startup Incubation to Market Development
37 out of 51 Spaces Occupied by Resident Companies
On October 29, Daejeon City opened the 'Daejeon Social Economy Innovation Town' to provide a wide range of support to social economy enterprises.
The opening ceremony was attended by more than 200 people, including representatives of social economy enterprises and ordinary citizens. The event featured an unveiling ceremony, a tour of the innovation town, and a special social economy marketplace as side events.
The 'Daejeon Social Economy Innovation Town' aims to invigorate the social economy by focusing on the qualitative growth and self-sustainability of social economy enterprises. It plans to support all aspects of operations, including startup incubation, education, consulting, publicity, market development, research and development, and the formation of networks among resident companies.
A total project cost of 34.1 billion won, including national and municipal funds, was invested to establish the center. The building consists of two underground and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 9,527 square meters. It was newly constructed on the site of the former Chungnam Institute of Health and Environment in Gayang-dong, Dong-gu.
The facility is equipped with spaces for resident companies, product development labs, a digital media room, exhibition and sales halls, shared workrooms, lecture rooms, a large conference room, a coffee shop, a communal lounge, and a book cafe, providing both business growth support and community interaction infrastructure for citizens.
In particular, out of 51 dedicated spaces for resident companies, 37 are currently occupied. Various collaborations and joint market development efforts among social economy enterprises are expected to be actively pursued.
