The 'Cultural Arts Complex Center' and 'Public Library' will be built at 528-1 Iljik-dong, inside Gwangmyeong Cultural Park. The Cultural Arts Complex Center will have a total floor area of 4,985 square meters, while the Public Library will cover 3,694 square meters. Both buildings will have one basement level and four above-ground floors. Construction of both facilities is scheduled to begin in February next year, with completion targeted for January 2028.
The Cultural Arts Complex Center will feature a performance hall, open gallery, community culture center, and community lounge. The Public Library will include tiered bookshelves, a children's reading room, a specialized resource room, and a general reading room.
The city plans to organically connect the internal and external circulation and design of the two facilities, creating an open complex space where citizens can freely move and interact. In particular, to allow citizens to relax and enjoy leisure time in nature, the lower floors will be equipped with folding glass doors to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces and enhance openness.
The performance hall of the Cultural Arts Complex Center will be linked with an outdoor stage to present a variety of cultural and artistic performances throughout the year, while the tiered bookshelves in the Public Library will provide a comfortable space where visitors can read books while enjoying sunlight and greenery.
The city plans to complete the basic and detailed design by December and then entrust the construction project to Gwangmyeong Urban Corporation.
