Imsil County to Hold 'Crispy Kimchi Festival' from November 21 to 23
A Variety of Activities Including Kimchi-Making Experience and Sales Event
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province will hold the '10th Imsil Crispy Kimchi Festival' kimchi-making experience event from November 21 to 23 at the Imsil Cheese Theme Park and surrounding areas.
According to the county on October 28, this festival will feature a 'kimchi-making experience' where participants can make kimchi on-site, as well as a 'sales event' where pickled cabbages and seasoning can be purchased for delivery or picked up in person via drive-thru.
Advance reservations for both the kimchi-making experience and the online/offline sales event are available until November 14. The kimchi-making experience event on November 21 will include an opening ceremony, kimchi-making demonstrations, an impromptu singing contest (with souvenirs for participants), and food booths selling sets of boiled pork, rice, kimchi, and soup for 10,000 won. Various programs are planned for the day.
At the sales event, a set of pickled cabbage (20kg) and seasoning (10kg) will be sold for 193,000 won, which is 2,000 won cheaper than last year, including delivery fees. If picked up directly from Imsil & Seasoning Co., Ltd., the price will be 185,000 won, excluding delivery fees.
Orders for kimchi sets and reservations for the kimchi-making experience can be made by phone or on the website of Imsil & Seasoning Co., Ltd. On-site registration will also be available on the day of the event, but advance reservations are recommended as priority will be given to those who have reserved in advance.
This festival has recorded increasing sales every year. The secret to its popularity lies in the fact that families and friends can easily prepare kimchi to suit their taste at home using carefully selected cabbages and peppers grown in the pristine environment of Imsil, making the kimchi-making process enjoyable and hassle-free.
Since its inception in 2016, the festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, with its taste and quality widely recognized and the number of applicants steadily increasing. Last year, a total of 122 tons were sold, resulting in sales of 630 million won and contributing to the consumption of local agricultural products. This year, the county has secured more than 110 tons of supplies and plans to sell top-quality pickled cabbages and seasoning.
