Hoengseong County Holds 20th Anniversary Sister City Plaque Unveiling Ceremony with Yazu Town, Japan
Hoengseong County in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province held a meaningful event to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its exchange with its sister city, Yazu Town in Japan, and pledged to further strengthen mutual cooperation.

View original imageHoengseong County invited a five-member delegation led by Yoshida Hideto, Mayor of Yazu Town, and organized a four-day exchange program starting from October 23. On October 24, during the visit, an official ceremony was held in the county office lobby, including the unveiling of the "20th Anniversary Sister City Commemoration Plaque."
Since forming a sister city relationship in 2005, Hoengseong County and Yazu Town have built deep friendship and trust over the past 20 years, with approximately 130 mutual visits involving around 1,200 participants across various fields such as administration, culture, and youth.
The unveiling ceremony served as an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past 20 years of exchange and to explore new visions for cooperation between the two cities.
The official banquet was held at Hoengseong Alps Daeyeong Country Club to welcome the Yazu Town delegation. The event included a commemorative ceremony reviewing the history of their exchanges, as well as a celebratory performance by the Korean traditional music group Haerang, further highlighting the significance of the 20th anniversary.
Kim Myunggi, Mayor of Hoengseong County, stated, "Over the past 20 years, our county has continued various forms of cooperation with Yazu Town in both administrative and private sectors through our sister city relationship. Taking this 20th anniversary as an opportunity, we will continue to seek and pursue ways for both cities to grow and develop together."

Meanwhile, Hoengseong County also plans to attend the 20th anniversary sister city celebration to be held in Yazu Town at the end of October for four days, further expanding the scope of exchange.
