Samcheok City in Gangwon Province announced on October 21 that it will hold the '10th Samcheok Chrysanthemum Exhibition' in grand fashion at Samcheok Beach for 24 days, from October 24 to November 16.
This exhibition is designed to offer citizens and tourists beautiful autumn memories and a healing space provided by agriculture. The event will officially begin with a lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on October 23, the day before the opening.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Samcheok Chrysanthemum Exhibition will feature a total of 10,500 chrysanthemum works, including chrysanthemum sculptures and multi-flower arrangements, to captivate visitors. There will also be booths promoting and selling local agricultural specialties, hands-on booths where visitors can experience the scent of chrysanthemums, and a variety of street performances by local performance clubs.
The exhibition area is divided into three zones. Zone 1 will showcase works themed around animals and healing gardens, creating a space where visitors of all ages can take photos and enjoy themselves. Zone 2 will serve as the Samcheok City promotional zone, featuring a large chrysanthemum sculpture depicting General Isabu, a prominent historical figure from Samcheok who has recently drawn attention due to the Dokdo issue. Zone 3 will be a kids' zone for children, presenting chrysanthemum artworks inspired by popular characters such as 'Frozen,' offering children a unique experience that stimulates their imagination alongside the flowers.
Meanwhile, the lighting ceremony on October 23 will feature a variety of cultural performances, including saxophone and Nanta drum performances, and Samcheok Mayor Park Sangsoo will personally announce the start of the chrysanthemum exhibition.
