Yeongdeungpo District to Open "Seonyudo Garden Festival" and "October in Seonyu" on the 24th
A Signature Autumn Festival Bringing Together Nature, Art, and the Local Community
Yeongdeungpo District in Seoul (District Mayor Choi Hokwon) will jointly host the "2025 Yeongdeungpo Seonyudo Garden Festival" and "October in Seonyu" from October 24 to 26 at Seonyudo Park and the "Street You Want to Walk" area near Seonyudo Station.
Seonyudo Park is a landmark project by landscape architect Jung Youngsun, who received the Geoffrey Jellicoe Award, often referred to as the Nobel Prize in landscape architecture. It is the first ecological park in Korea created by transforming a water purification plant. As a destination where nature and art harmonize, it attracts many citizens every year.
Now in its second year, the "Seonyudo Garden Festival" will be held under the theme of "Coexistence of Nature and Art, Spreading Eco-Friendly Culture." The event will feature a wide range of programs, including performances by Gum Nansae & New World Chamber Orchestra, Seoul City Ballet, and the fusion Korean traditional music band Owndo, as well as the "Seonyudo Bird Walk," yoga sessions, an eco-friendly experience zone, and the flea market "Seonyudo Picnic Day."
A "Book Festival" in collaboration with the Yeongdeungpo District Library will also take place. Under the theme "Library: Embracing Culture Beyond Books," there will be cultural programs such as book talks, book curation, and a "One Book" proclamation ceremony featuring authors Yozoh, Lee Jungmo, Park Jun, and An Heeyeon.
The festival area will be expanded to include the "Street You Want to Walk" near Seonyudo Station, and will be held in conjunction with the "9th October in Seonyu." As a resident-led community festival, a 300-meter section from Exits 2 and 3 of Seonyudo Station to the back gate of Dangsan Elementary School will be closed to vehicles, offering various contents such as performances, a film festival, art exhibitions, hands-on experiences and food, as well as a bazaar.
Local businesses and schools will also participate. The festival will be enriched by charity bazaars hosted by Lotte Homeshopping, Lotte Wellfood, and Shinil Electronics, the "Dreamrise" film festival by Hangang Media High School, a 119 mobile safety experience, and the Bellygom parade.
Additionally, in the alleyway shopping district near Seonyudo Station, the "Chef-Invited Alley Sebasi" event will be held. Chef Lee Jaehun from JTBC's "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" will participate, sharing stories about the local food scene, offering new menu consultations, and hosting tasting events, providing a platform for communication between residents and merchants.
