Cellumed Showcases Bone Graft Materials and Total Knee Replacements at '2025 Fall Korean Orthopaedic Association'
Cellumed, a company specializing in bio-medical devices (CEO: Yoo Insu), announced on October 20 that it participated in the '2025 Fall Korean Orthopaedic Association (KOA 2025)' held at COEX Magok from October 16 to 18, where it showcased its orthopedic bone graft material (DBM) and total knee replacement (TKR) products.
The Korean Orthopaedic Association (KOA), established in 1956, is the largest academic organization for orthopedics in Korea, with more than 8,000 orthopedic specialists and researchers nationwide. The association's regular academic conferences, held twice a year in spring and fall, are the largest events in the country where the medical device industry and academia gather to share the latest clinical technologies and trends in medical devices.
The 'Lafugen DBM (Demineralized Bone Matrix)' unveiled at this conference is a product that received FDA approval in the United States in 2018. With a high DBM content of 40%, it delivers bone regeneration performance on par with global top-tier bone graft materials. Cellumed's DBM portfolio, manufactured on the same production line, is a biomaterial derived from human bone, processed to remove minerals while preserving growth factors and collagen. It is currently used in a variety of fields, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, and dentistry.
Based on its superior osteogenic effect compared to competing products, the company has continued to see sales growth. Cellumed has also begun developing next-generation bone graft materials using artificial intelligence (AI), and is currently validating eight peptide candidates designed with a new structure (de novo design).
In addition, Cellumed showcased its total knee replacement (TKR) product, in which both the femoral and tibial components are made of titanium alloy. This product is 50% to 60% lighter than those made from conventional cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloys, significantly reducing the foreign body sensation for patients after surgery. It also features a titanium nitride (TiN) ceramic coating, which lowers the incidence of metal allergies and improves wear resistance. The design is optimized for the body shape of Korean patients, which is expected to minimize side effects compared to imported products and increase patient satisfaction.
