Operation of "Tariff Response 119" with 8,000 Consultations
On October 16, Kang Kyung-sung, President of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), stated during his opening remarks at the National Assembly's audit of public institutions under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, conducted by the Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee, "External conditions remain challenging due to an export structure heavily dependent on the United States and China, geopolitical uncertainties, and intensifying global technological competition."

View original imagePresident Kang said, "Our exports increased by 2.2% year-on-year as of September this year, but the difficulties faced by companies have been exacerbated by the impact of tariffs imposed by the United States."
He continued, "We have launched an emergency export and investment response task force and established the Tariff Response 119 center, serving as the government’s primary channel for addressing tariff issues. We are making every effort to maintain export momentum by diversifying products using Korean Wave content and expanding into markets centered on the Global South."

KOTRA explained that, in response to heightened tariff uncertainties from the United States following the inauguration of the second Trump administration, it established and has been operating the dedicated Tariff Response 119 consultation center. To date, the center has provided consultations to approximately 8,000 companies.
