Supporting Practical Work for the Establishment of the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency by the Prosecution Reform Promotion Team
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will launch the "Support Team for the Establishment of the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency" to assist with the promotion of prosecution reform.
On October 15, the ministry announced that it had formed the support team in accordance with the amendment to the Government Organization Act to facilitate the establishment of the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency.
The support team will assist the Prosecution Reform Promotion Team under the Office for Government Policy Coordination with practical work related to setting up the agency. It will support the review and amendment of relevant laws and regulations, the design of subordinate organizations, recruitment of personnel, securing office space, and budget allocation for the establishment of the agency.

Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Hojoong stated, "The separation of investigative and prosecutorial powers is the most fundamental principle of prosecution reform," adding, "We will make every effort to ensure the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency is established without delay so that investigations can be conducted with greater accountability."
