31st Gwangyang Citizens' Day Commemorative Ceremony Held
Mayor Jung Inhwa: "Doing Our Best to Make Gwangyang a City Where People Want to Live for a Lifetime"
Gwangyang City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Inhwa), announced on the 15th that it held the "31st Gwangyang Citizens' Day" commemorative ceremony at 10 a.m. on the 14th at the Gwangyang City Community Center.
Gwangyang Citizens' Day has traditionally been held on October 8 every year in accordance with the "Ordinance on Gwangyang Citizens' Day," but this year, the event was rescheduled to the 14th to encourage greater citizen participation, as the original date coincided with the Chuseok holiday period.

View original imageThis year's event, held under the slogan "Gwangyang, a City Where You Want to Live for a Lifetime, from Birth to Old Age," aimed to foster unity and pride among citizens. The program began with performances by the municipal choir and the municipal traditional music orchestra, followed by the reading of the Citizens' Charter, the presentation of the Citizens' Award, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, a ceremony for the delivery of hometown love donations, and a vision performance.
The "Citizens' Award" is presented annually to individuals who have brought significant honor to Gwangyang City or serve as exemplary citizens. This year, the honor was awarded to Seo Seonggi, head of the Gwangyang Bay Area Human Resources Development Project Group, in recognition of his contributions to industrial workforce training and the establishment of industrial peace in the industrial and economic sectors.
In addition, members of the Jae-Suncheon Gwangyang Hometown Association (President Moon Seungtae) demonstrated their warm support for their hometown by donating 30 million won as a hometown love contribution, showing their commitment to improving citizen welfare and revitalizing the local economy.
The event continued with a vision performance, during which the vision of "Gwangyang, a City Where You Want to Live for a Lifetime, from Birth to Old Age" was shared with citizens, receiving enthusiastic applause and support.
