Court Official Indicted for Accepting Money in Exchange for Registration Convenience
A court official has been brought to trial for accepting money in exchange for providing convenience to a registration applicant.
On October 14, Presiding Judge Kim Soyeon of the Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 7 held the first hearing for court official A, who has been indicted on charges of bribery.
According to the prosecution, A is accused of receiving 700,000 won in 2021 while working in an administrative role at a branch under the Gwangju District Court, in exchange for providing convenience to a petitioner during the processing of registration work.
In court, A admitted to all charges and requested leniency so as to be allowed to retain the public official position. The prosecution has requested a sentence of six months in prison, a fine of 2 million won, and the forfeiture of 700,000 won.
