Children Experience Rice Harvest at Sejong the Great Tomb Wetland Rice Field
Harvesting and Threshing Rice in the Traditional Way
Harvested Rice to Be Delivered in November
The Sejong the Great Tomb Management Office of the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center under the Cultural Heritage Administration will hold a harvest event at the Sejong the Great Tomb Wetland Rice Field in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, at 3 p.m. on October 15, together with children from local community centers. The wetland rice field was created to cover royal expenses such as ancestral rites.
Participants will harvest rice using traditional methods and experience various farming processes, including threshing. They will also try traditional threshing with a "Holtae" (a traditional farming tool), rice cake pounding, and folk games. The harvested rice (Sejongmi) will be delivered to the participating children in November.
