Sejong Public Health Center to Launch 'COVID-19 Vaccination for High-Risk Groups' Starting October 15
Simultaneous Vaccination Against Influenza Recommended for High-Risk Groups, Including Those Aged 65 and Older
From October 15, 2025, to April 30, 2026, COVID-19 vaccinations will be administered to high-risk groups. This vaccination program is designed to prevent severe illness and death among high-risk individuals due to COVID-19.
According to the Sejong City Public Health Center on October 13, the eligible recipients include seniors aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals aged six months and older, and residents of facilities vulnerable to infection, such as shelters for the homeless and disabled, nursing homes, psychiatric care, and rehabilitation facilities.
The vaccination start date differs by age group among those aged 65 and older: individuals aged 75 and above may receive the vaccine starting October 15, those aged 70 to 74 from October 20, and those aged 65 to 69 from October 22. Seniors aged 65 and older who are also eligible for influenza vaccination are recommended to receive both the COVID-19 and influenza vaccines simultaneously.
Immunocompromised individuals under the age of 12 may require up to two doses depending on their previous vaccination history, so they must consult a healthcare professional before receiving the vaccine. Vaccinations can be administered at any designated medical institution, regardless of the recipient's registered address. At the time of vaccination, seniors aged 65 and older must present identification, immunocompromised individuals must provide a medical certificate or doctor's note, and residents of infection-vulnerable facilities must present a certificate of residency or equivalent documentation. The list of designated medical institutions can be found through the Sejong City Public Health Center or the National Immunization Helper website.
