According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on October 2, the region is expected to see mostly cloudy or overcast skies throughout the holiday period, from October 3 to 9.
On October 3 and 4, when the main wave of homecoming travel begins, high waves are expected in the southern part of the West Sea and the southwestern sea, requiring special attention to transportation safety. Starting in the morning of October 3, rain is forecast for Gwangju and some parts of South Jeolla Province, with precipitation expected to stop by nighttime.
On Chuseok day, October 6, under the influence of high pressure, the rain will stop but there will still be many clouds, and it is forecast that the full moon will be visible between the clouds.
Daytime temperatures will remain relatively mild, ranging from 21 to 28 degrees Celsius, which is 2 to 7 degrees higher than the seasonal average. During the holiday period, waves at sea are expected to be generally moderate, at around 1 to 3 meters.
However, the Korea Meteorological Administration explained that, due to high sea surface temperatures near Southeast Asia, there is a possibility of additional tropical cyclones forming, which could result in changes to the forecast depending on the region.
