One in Five Content Companies Utilizes Generative AI
A 7.1 Percentage Point Increase in Six Months
"More of a Shift in Job Roles Than Direct Replacement"
One out of five content companies is utilizing generative artificial intelligence (AI), according to a recent survey. In particular, the gaming sector showed the highest adoption rate, with 41.7% of companies using generative AI.
The Korea Creative Content Agency announced on October 1 that, based on a survey of 2,513 content businesses nationwide, the generative AI usage rate reached 20.0% in the first half of this year. This represents a 7.1 percentage point increase compared to the second half of last year. By industry, the gaming sector (41.7%) and the broadcasting and video sector (30.8%) showed especially notable increases.
The most common stages for utilizing generative AI were "content production" (63.0%) and "creative planning" (43.0%). However, there were differences by industry: the comics industry mainly used generative AI for management work, while the advertising industry primarily applied it to marketing and public relations.
All companies that have experienced generative AI said they intend to continue using it in the future. In contrast, only 27.7% of companies without prior experience expressed willingness to adopt it.
The Korea Creative Content Agency assessed that generative AI is transforming the nature of tasks rather than simply eliminating jobs. Instead of direct replacement, the agency explained that "talent capable of handling AI" is absorbing existing roles. Accordingly, the agency emphasized the need for: ▲improving AI awareness and ethics education ▲training specialized professionals ▲establishing industry-specific support systems.
