View original imageThe ceremony was attended by key figures including Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, National Assemblyman Lee Kiheon, as well as residents of Baekseok-dong and members of the residents’ self-governing committee, who gathered to celebrate the start of construction for the Baekseok National Sports Center.
The Baekseok National Sports Center will be a complex facility with one basement floor and three above-ground floors, covering a total floor area of 2,151.34 square meters (652 pyeong). It will feature a multipurpose gymnasium, spectator seating, exercise prescription rooms, and offices, establishing a foundation for community health and the promotion of sports for all.
The first floor of the center will consist solely of shared spaces such as the entrance and lobby of the gymnasium. The parking lot will be built with a column (pilotis) structure to facilitate easy passage, allowing people with disabilities and the elderly to access and use the facility with ease.
The second floor will serve as a multipurpose gymnasium, where not only traditional ball sports but also less popular sports such as martial arts and wushu can be enjoyed. It will also be equipped with an exercise prescription room and showers.

The third floor will house the center’s administrative offices and a spectator area with 200 seats, allowing visitors to watch sports games and events. Additionally, a separate building will be provided as a rental space.
