The School Support Headquarters of the Sejong City Office of Education (hereinafter referred to as the School Support Headquarters) will conduct cleaning and disinfection of school water tanks during the second half of this year, aiming to ensure the safety of drinking water through regular sanitation management of water supply facilities. This initiative will continue until next month.
According to the School Support Headquarters on September 25, the program will cover a total of 141 schools in the region and include 260 water tanks such as drinking water tanks, domestic water tanks, and rainwater storage tanks. Drinking water tanks and rainwater storage tanks, which are used for drinking, washing, and landscaping purposes, are cleaned once every six months, while domestic water tanks, used for purposes such as toilet flushing, are cleaned once a year.
Notably, starting this year, the School Support Headquarters will newly support the cleaning of rainwater storage tanks that have been installed and reported in accordance with the Act on the Promotion and Support of Water Reuse. Since rainwater can contain various suspended substances and, if left unattended for a long period, may affect the school environment and overall hygiene, the scope of management has been expanded.
This initiative is expected to serve as an opportunity to raise the overall hygiene standards of school facilities.
