"Golf Emperor" Tiger Woods Nears Return
Reveals Video of Hitting Balls on Social Media
First Practice Since Achilles Surgery in March
Possible Comeback at Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in December
The return of the "golf emperor" Tiger Woods (United States) to the field is imminent.
On September 9 (local time), he posted a video on his social media showing himself hitting balls at the practice range. The location was the practice range at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey, where the Lexus Cup, an event organized by Woods for amateur players, was held.
In March, Woods was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles tendon and underwent surgery, putting down his golf clubs since then. Although it is not known exactly when Woods resumed holding a golf club, this is the first time in six months that footage of him hitting balls has been released.
He began walking and resuming public activities a month after the surgery. He was spotted several times attending his son Charlie's matches as a spectator, but he had never shown himself hitting balls with a golf club. The release of the video suggests that his swing practice has reached a certain level, signaling that Woods' return to the field is near.

There is speculation that Woods' comeback could take place at the Hero World Challenge, which will be held in the Bahamas for four days starting December 4. The Hero World Challenge is hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation. Alternatively, he is also likely to participate in the PNC Championship, a family golf competition to be held in Orlando, Florida, on December 18. Woods has played in this tournament with Charlie for five consecutive years through last year.
