[Photo] Zinnias in Full Bloom at Juknimjae in Damyang
At Juknimjae in Damyang, Jeollanam-do, vibrant zinnias are in full bloom, creating a breathtaking sea of red flowers that captures the essence of summer. Juknimjae, located in Bunhyang-ri, Goseo-myeon, Damyang-gun, is Jeollanam-do Monument No. 99. It was originally built by Juknim Jo Su-mun as a study hall for the Changnyeong Jo clan. The first building was destroyed by fire during the Japanese invasions of Korea, and in the first year of King Injo's reign (1623), Samcheongdang Jo Bu, the sixth-generation descendant of Juknim, rebuilt it. Later, in the fifth year of King Gojong's reign (1868), it was closed due to the royal order to abolish private academies issued by Heungseon Daewongun, but it was reconstructed in 1948. Starting as a clan study hall, it eventually took the form of a seowon (Confucian academy) and is also known as 'Juknim Seowon.' Provided by Damyang-gun.
