Enhancing Expertise in Tax, Customs, and International Trade
Sejong Law Firm announced on August 20 that it has recently strengthened its expertise in the tax sector by recruiting Changhee Lee, Professor at Seoul National University School of Law, Maria Jang, Foreign Attorney, and Taehun Kim, Customs Specialist.

View original imageProfessor Lee, who joins as an advisor to the Tax Group, is recognized as an authority in tax law. He graduated from the Department of Law at Seoul National University and the Department of Economics at Dongguk University, and earned his LL.M. and J.S.D. degrees from Harvard Law School in the United States. After being appointed as a professor at Seoul National University School of Law in 1997, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo Faculty of Law, Harvard Law School, and NYU School of Law, where he lectured on international taxation and related subjects.
He is a certified public accountant and a foreign attorney (New York), and has worked at Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers and Caplin & Drysdale, a leading U.S. tax law firm. He has also served as a non-standing judge at the Tax Tribunal, a member of the Tax System Development Committee at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, a member of the Special Committee on Fiscal Reform at the Presidential Committee on Policy Planning, a member of the Audit Committee at the Financial Supervisory Service, a member of the Listing Committee at the Korea Exchange, president of the Korean Tax Law Association, and vice president of the Korean Association of International Tax Studies. He will serve as the inaugural head of the newly established Corporate Strategy and Tax Center, where he will provide strategic solutions to tax issues faced by companies.
Attorney Jang is an expert in international taxation, customs, and trade. She has worked at Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers and Bae, Kim & Lee LLC, providing tax advisory services for inbound transactions such as Unilever's acquisition of Carver Korea, as well as tax advisory for overseas investments by various domestic asset management firms. Attorney Jang is expected to contribute to strengthening the capabilities of Sejong's Global Tax Center.
Specialist Kim acquired his customs broker qualification in 2016 and has since worked at Iwai Customs Corporation and Lee & Ko, demonstrating expertise in customs audits, foreign exchange inspections, ACVA and FTA verifications, tariff classification, and export/import requirements. He has provided specialized services to major domestic conglomerates, mid-sized companies, and foreign-invested companies in the fields of customs, trade, and foreign exchange transactions. He will support companies in effectively responding to various customs and trade risks they face.
