"China Will Help Keep the Strait of Hormuz Open"
U.S. President Donald Trump, who is currently visiting China, stated on the 15th, "We have achieved a fantastic trade agreement." He also emphasized that he shares similar views with China regarding Iran, and noted that China will provide significant assistance in keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
On this final day of his state visit to China, President Trump held a tea meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at Zhongnanhai in Beijing, where President Xi's office is located. He said, "This visit has been remarkable," and added, "We have reached a fantastic trade agreement, and it is a great thing for both countries."
President Trump further described President Xi as "a person whom I deeply respect and a friend," stating, "We have resolved many issues that others could not, and our relationship is strong." He continued, "We have very similar views on the Iran issue. We want the situation to be resolved, and we do not want them to possess nuclear weapons. We want the Strait to remain open."
Previously, in an interview with Fox News following his summit with President Xi the previous day, President Trump mentioned that "President Xi said he would not provide military equipment to Iran and expressed his willingness to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open."
President Trump also reiterated his invitation for President Xi to visit the United States on September 24. He stated, "President Xi will visit the United States," adding, "Just as with reciprocal trade, this visit will also be based on reciprocity."

Meanwhile, the tea meeting at Zhongnanhai was attended on the U.S. side by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer, and U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue. On the Chinese side, participants included Cai Qi, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China Central Committee; Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs; He Lifeng, Vice Premier of the State Council; Ma Zhaoxu, Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the United States.
