Since 2011, when it became the first company in the domestic life insurance industry to publish such a report, Kyobo Life Insurance has transparently disclosed its ESG management activities and achievements every year.
The report is titled 'People, and the Future.' The title reflects the company's commitment to people-centered management, emphasizing that people are the most valuable asset and that a company should exist by the people, for the people, and because of the people.
Shin Changjae, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Kyobo Life Insurance, stated, "We will fulfill the essence of our business and deliver greater value to our customers," adding, "Based on our philosophy of pursuing joint development with all stakeholders, we will faithfully implement stakeholder-centered management."
Kyobo Life Insurance is sincerely fulfilling its social responsibilities based on a systematic ESG management strategy. In March 2022, the company established the Sustainability ESG Committee under its board of directors. It also operates an ESG Council composed of key executives and an ESG Working Council made up of heads of various departments.
Last year, efforts to protect consumers-such as strengthening the consumer protection system, responding swiftly to complaints, and innovating services-produced tangible results. The company revised and proclaimed its Financial Consumer Protection Charter, enhanced internal controls for consumer protection, and improved its Voice of Customer (VOC) system.
As a result, Kyobo Life Insurance was selected as an excellent company for the fourth consecutive time since 2021 in the '2024 Korea Financial Consumer Protection Index (KCPI)' survey conducted by the Korea Management Association Consulting.
In addition, the report highlights efforts to strengthen compliance and ethical management, such as revising financial accident prevention standards, as well as initiatives to address climate change, including calculating financed emissions.
Kyobo Life Insurance is also taking the lead in environmental protection and resource circulation. Last year alone, the company invested a total of 8.3629 trillion won in sustainable investments such as alternative investments in the environmental sector, including renewable energy, and green bonds. Additionally, by recycling 26,082 kg of hand towels, the company achieved the equivalent effect of planting 2,453 pine trees.
