2026 Yeosu World Island Expo Holds "SNS Supporters" Launching Ceremony
Organizing Committee Appoints 18 Members
Boosting Excitement and Strengthening Online Promotion
The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo Organizing Committee announced on August 12 that it held the "2026 Yeosu World Island Expo SNS Supporters Launching Ceremony" at Sono Calm Yeosu on August 11.
The launching ceremony marked the official start of activities for the SNS supporters, who were appointed to boost excitement for the Yeosu World Island Expo and strengthen online promotion. The event was attended by the supporters, as well as Committee Chairperson Chung Kim (Mayor of Yeosu), Secretary-General Kim Jonggi, and others.

View original imageDuring the event, appointment certificates were presented, and the operational plan for the supporters was introduced. Previously, the organizing committee had conducted an open nationwide recruitment last month and selected a total of 18 supporters.
The supporters will be active under the name "Seomporters," a combination of "Seom" (island) and "supporters." Their activities will continue until November 4, 2026, and they plan to promote the Island Expo through various means, including participating in major events and producing content.
A committee official stated, "Seomporters are storytellers who convey the value of islands," adding, "We plan to operate the group in a way that captures diverse voices from across the country and actively promotes the value and appeal of the Island Expo."

Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, under the theme "Islands: Connecting the Sea and the Future," is scheduled to be held from September 5 to November 4, 2026, for two months at the Dolsan Jinmo District, Geumo Island, Gae Island, and the Yeosu World Expo venue.
