View original imageOn July 10, the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea announced that it had held a proclamation ceremony for the Good Market and Good Street in Yangdong, Gwangju, to commemorate the birth of the 50,000th Good Store nationwide.
The proclamation ceremony, held at Yangdong Market in Gwangju that day, was attended by Koo Jaegil, Chairman of Gwangju Sarangui Yeolmae, Kim Ikang, Mayor of Gwangju Seo-gu, Jeon Seungil, Chairman of the Seo-gu Council, Lee Seongdo, Head of Fundraising at the Central Office, as well as Good Store donor shop owners.
The event included the proclamation of Gwangju's first "Good Market and Good Street," a group joining ceremony for 17 Good Store shops within Yangdong Market, and a nationwide 50,000th Good Store joining ceremony and commemorative performance.
Currently, Yangdong Market has 156 shops within the market area and about 170 shops including those outside the area. This accounts for about 14% of all Good Stores in Seo-gu (1,286 shops) and is recognized as the traditional market with the highest proportion of Good Stores nationwide. Based on these achievements, it was officially proclaimed as "Gwangju's No. 1 Good Market."
The main branch of "1969 Yangdong Tongdak" in Yangdong Market was designated as the 50,000th Good Store nationwide, and a commemorative number performance was held to highlight the significance of the Good Store campaign.
