Gyeonggi Province Trains 200 Docents for Picture Book Exhibition "Feathers and Moss"
Gyeonggi Province is launching the "Gyeonggi Resident Picture Book Docent Training" to promote a reading culture. Those who complete the training will serve as docents for the climate, environment, and ecology exhibition "Feathers and Moss" at eight public libraries in the province.
Gyeonggi Province announced that it has selected a total of eight public libraries from eight regions, including the Western Adjacent Zone, Southern Coastal Zone, Southeastern Inland Zone, and Northern Inland Zone. From July 9 to September 17, the province will provide docent training to 200 residents.
The training consists of six online theoretical sessions (12 hours, using the knowledge platform GSEEK) and four in-person practical sessions (8 hours) at the eight public libraries. The curriculum covers essential topics for actual docent activities, including the concept and history of picture books, the role of a docent, and exhibition script writing.
Participants who complete at least 8 hours of theory and 6 hours of practice will be eligible to serve as docents.
Park Minkyeong, Director of Library Policy at Gyeonggi Province, said, "The picture book docent training project, which began through the resident participatory budget, has received an enthusiastic response from residents, with all spots filled in just one day. We hope that many people will visit the 'Feathers and Moss' traveling exhibition, where local docents will be active."
