According to the province on July 4, both industrial complexes are scheduled to begin construction in the second half of this year. They are expected to help resolve the shortage of industrial land in the province and drive corporate investment attraction in the future.

In response to the increasing demand for corporate occupancy, the city will expand the northeastern section of the 3rd General Industrial Complex, located in the Samgi-myeon and Nangsang-myeon areas, by a total of 272,815 square meters (approximately 83,000 pyeong). The project will require an investment of 49 billion won and is expected to be completed by next year.

The expansion area will consist mostly of land for industrial facilities and will also include infrastructure such as internal roads, buffer green spaces, and parks. The targeted industries for attraction are chemical product manufacturing, other machinery and equipment manufacturing, and automobile and trailer manufacturing, selected in consideration of connectivity with the existing complex.

In Gimje, as all lots in the existing industrial complexes have already been sold, the city will respond to continued requests from companies by newly establishing the Jipyeongseon 2nd Industrial Complex in the Sangdong-dong area, covering 882,272 square meters (approximately 270,000 pyeong). The total investment will amount to 204.8 billion won, and the complex is scheduled for completion by 2028.

The Gimje Jipyeongseon 2nd Industrial Complex will be developed as a mixed-use complex with not only industrial facilities but also residential and commercial facilities, parks, a park golf course, and rest areas, providing a pleasant living environment. The industries to be attracted, based on a demand survey, include food manufacturing, electrical equipment, electronic components, metal processing, machinery, and automobile manufacturing.

Both industrial complexes will be developed directly by the city through a public development approach. Advance land acquisition is currently underway, and construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year.

Kim Intae, head of the Provincial Corporate Investment Support Office, stated, "Since the development of industrial complexes usually takes more than seven years, it is extremely important to secure industrial land in advance to ensure that there are no disruptions to corporate occupancy demand. We will continue to pursue the establishment of additional industrial complexes to provide a stable supply base in the future."
