National Policy Planning Committee to Establish 'Regulation Rationalization' and 'Participation and Integration' Task Forces
On June 24, the National Policy Planning Committee announced that it has decided to establish the 'Regulation Rationalization Task Force (TF)' and the 'Participation and Integration TF'.

View original imageCho Seungrae, spokesperson for the National Policy Planning Committee, held a regular briefing at the Changseong-dong annex of the Government Complex Seoul on this day and stated, "The Regulation Rationalization TF will establish the new government's regulatory philosophy and design regulations based on it."
Spokesperson Cho explained, "The Regulation Rationalization TF will work to enhance national competitiveness and supplement regulations directly related to the lives and safety of the people. It will also address new regulatory measures for future technologies such as AI (artificial intelligence), energy, and big tech."
The Regulation Rationalization TF will be led by Oh Ki-hyung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, and will consist of 11 members. The first meeting is scheduled for June 26, where the team will discuss directions for regulatory improvement in line with President Lee Jaemyung's philosophy of 'genuine growth'.
For the 'Participation and Integration TF', Lee Taeho, Executive Director of the People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy and a member of the National Policy Planning Committee's division, will serve as team leader, with Heo Euna, former leader of the Reform New Party, among the participants. Spokesperson Cho explained, "The Participation and Integration TF will focus on developing policies to promote citizen participation in the era of popular sovereignty and consider how such participation can contribute to national integration."

The National Policy Planning Committee also plans to discuss the expansion of the government's research and development (R&D) budget. Spokesperson Cho stated, "The budget currently submitted to the National Science and Technology Advisory Council (NSTAC) was prepared by the previous administration," and added, "We will discuss ways to improve the budget submitted to the NSTAC."
