Sejong City Renames Bus Stops to Focus on Passenger Convenience
Reflecting Names of Nearby Facilities and Roads
Improvements to Boarding Queue Line Markings
On June 19, Sejong City announced that it has completed the renaming of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and general bus stops.
This initiative aims to resolve confusion caused by bus stop names that did not match nearby major facilities, and to make it easier for passengers to use public transportation.
According to Sejong City, a total of 14 bus stops that required improvement were selected through public feedback and on-site inspections. Their names were changed to reflect the names of nearby major facilities or roads. For example, the previous "SanHakYeon Cluster" stop has been renamed "Sejong Joint Campus," and the "Ministry of Science and ICT" stop has been changed to "Local Government Center North," making the location and surrounding environment of each stop clearer.
In particular, improvements to the bus stop boarding queue system will be implemented starting with the first bus on June 23. For 34 BRT stops in high-demand areas, new boarding queue lines will be installed or existing ones will be enhanced. The improved boarding queue lines, which include guidance lines and visual markers, will clearly indicate boarding locations within the stops to prevent passenger collisions during peak hours.
Cheon Heungbin, Director of the Transportation Bureau, said, "We will make careful improvements so that even a single bus stop name or line does not inconvenience citizens using public transportation," and added, "We will continue to realize transportation administration created together with citizens."
