1,707,113 Inbound Foreign Tourists in April... Up 16.7% Year-on-Year
The Korea Tourism Organization announced on May 30 that the number of inbound foreign tourists to Korea last month reached 1,707,113, representing a 16.7% increase compared to the same month last year. In April 2024, the number of inbound foreign tourists was 1,462,797.
This figure is 4.4% higher than the 1,635,066 recorded in April 2019, just before the COVID-19 pandemic. This indicates that the number of inbound tourists has fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels.
The cumulative number of inbound foreign tourists for the period up to April this year reached 5,577,360, an increase of 14.6% compared to 4,865,670 during the same period last year.
By country, Chinese tourists accounted for the largest share of inbound foreign tourists in April, with 443,230 visitors.
This was followed by Japan (257,903), the United States (153,381), Taiwan (151,613), the Philippines (69,393), and Hong Kong (64,591).

The number of outbound Korean tourists, representing Koreans traveling abroad last month, was 2,149,577, an increase of 1.8% compared to the same month last year (2,110,954).
