Attendees from the committee included Chair Kim Taenyun, Executive Vice Chairs Kim Won-i and Ahn Dogul, National Assembly member Shin Junghun, and Special Advisor Byun Changhum. In addition, ten private sector experts, including former Seoul National University of Science and Technology professor Hwang Woohyun, also participated.
Solar City enterprise city is a new-concept future city model that integrates advanced industries with education and residential infrastructure. Solar City is attracting attention as a regional innovation hub, based on its site of 6.3 million pyeong, abundant solar and wind resources, and stable water supply capabilities.
Experts present at the site proposed key policy tasks to develop Solar City as an AI data center hub and an RE100 industrial complex. Their proposals included: easing regulations to utilize nearby saline farmland and idle water surfaces for solar power sites; establishing a regional distributed power grid; designating the area as a specialized zone for distributed energy; preemptively building substations to attract global data centers; and supporting infrastructure for power, communications, and water supply.
Executive Vice Chair Ahn Dogul stated, "We will consider support measures so that Solar City can become a successful case of future land and spatial innovation, where AI data centers, new industries, and young talent gather, all based on renewable energy."
